This adult beaver is standing up on its hind legs. It is gnawing on tree bark and the growing (cambium) layer of a tree (elm tree, maybe) at the Needham Reservoir, a suburb of Boston. This fall photo features red and yellow leaves in the water and on the tree.

I've used cameras since I was 10 years old, yet it is only in the past 10 years that I wanted to share my view with others. While I love shooting soccer games, it was a close up encounter with a red wing blackbird that made me want you to share these visions. I am always amazed at how detailed and vibrant are the colors of even the most common and plain bird, plant, flower, butterfly, or ant. Nature gives us amazing wildlife to see, even in our own backyards. I hope you experience the same joy while looking at my images that I felt while capturing these critters in my camera.
