I went out to capture some winter scenes right after the last blizzard, but found there were many places I could not drive due to the deep snowfall. Someone told me about some ducks hanging out by the Charles River in Dover though, so I decided to take a look. There were over 150 ducks and geese in this one bend in the river. It was pretty amazing!
I caught some great shots of Canada Geese, Mallards, American Black Duck hybrids and two species of duck I'd never seen before. There were 8 Hooded Mergansers and two Common Mergansers across the river on the opposite bank. I had heard of them, but never seen them in the flesh. That was exciting! I just uploaded a few photos, but plenty more are coming. Please take a close look at all these amazing birds in their special plumage and quirky expressions.
